From homelessness to the national stage
Emery Kaison is an Australian figure skater who began skating at 16 during a difficult period of homelessness. What started as a small escape became a rapid rise. In just over 3 years he has competed in more than 35 events, earned 19 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze medals, and advanced divisions each season. He has earned multiple state titles overall, including 3 this year alone, one of which was won in the same week he left home. Emery now trains across states with a growing coaching team as he works toward Nationals and higher divisions.
HELPING EDGE: Support Emery’s Journey
Emery’s journey from starting skating during homelessness at sixteen to earning three state titles in one season has been shaped by community support. Contributions made through the Australian Sports Foundation help fund his training, travel, and competition pathway.

KAI ATELIER STUDIO
Kai Atelier presents Kaison in a series of images that merge movement artistry with visual storytelling. Through both studio portraits and open air studies, the gallery captures the texture of Emery’s work, shaped by contemporary dance, classical ballet foundations developed at Newtown High School of The Performing Arts, and an early background in gymnastics. The collection creates a visual space where technique and expression meet, elevating Emery’s movement language into a personal form of fine art.
